Artz...with a z?
Hello! I'm Emily, an artist and designer based in Charleston, SC. When I'm not moonlighting as a homeschool mom and chauffeur extraordinaire, I'm usually playing with shapes and colors and words.
I create art for the home and for growing families, and apply my designs to practical items that are kid and family-approved.
Contrary to popular belief, Artz actually is my middle name! I think it means 'doctor' in German, and I use 'popular' loosely here, but don't tell my kids because for some reason they think I'm famous.
May you find something here that brings you and your family as much joy as I felt creating it.
From our roots to our wings, and all our blooms in between, may we dig, may we rise, may our hearts open wide.

How I work
As an artist, I often bounce back and forth between illustration and abstract work. Having grown up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, subjects that follow me wherever I go are folky houses, rivers, trees, mountains, animals, birds, and flowers.
As a designer, I tend to explore a wide range of styles, though rich colors and collage-inspired compositions tend to show up repeatedly. I move fluidly between traditional and digital spaces, sometimes blurring the lines between the two realms.
All work is original. I offer open, limited and one-of-a-kind works of art, as well as occasional products adorned with original surface pattern designs.
